Episode 10: The Woke Church + Social Gospel

Although controversial for many Christians, the concept of the Woke Church doesn’t fall far from the teachings of the Bible. Pastor Eric Mason, author of the book by the same name defines the woke church as “The ability to understand cultural, socioeconomic, and historical realities that inform our responsibility as believers in Jesus Christ.” In this special episode of Let’s Talk About Race, we explore what this manifesto means in a time of heightened segregation in America’s politics and congregations. The Faith Report takes a hard look at the Black Church and how it has been largely silent on hotbed events and topics like Black Lives Matter, gay rights, and the inhumane treatment of immigrants.
