Season 2 Episode 04: Hope & Hard Work
With the Republican Party handing former President Donald Trump an acquittal in his second impeachment trial, The GOP has made it clear that their allegiance is no longer to the United States but to QAnon and the Trump cult of personality. This disheartening but not unexpected turn of events signals the road ahead might be harder than we ever imagined. In this episode of Let’s Talk About Race our roundtable looks at what the Biden/Harris Administration has accomplished so far, and what it must do to sort out the path ahead.
Taking the helm of a country left fractured by the previous administration, there is much to be done to reunify our nation and ensure equity for this and future generations. At present Covid vaccine distribution has been sporadic and biased, the economy has ground to a halt for the middle and working class, and racial unrest is at a level unseen since the Civil Rights Movement.
So where is the hope in all of this hard work? We can start with Biden’s swell of executive orders. After signing close to 40 orders ranging from Covid relief to immigration and various environmental protections, there has been a communal sigh of relief at the undoing of many of the previous administration’s actions. In Biden’s plan to create meaningful change and fight for the soul of America, these orders are paving the way to its redemption.
